THE BIRCHING BLOCK
Birching’s were administered is various ways and positions but surely the most famous is to kneel on the heavy wooden birching block! This creative accessory has a long history and a preserved real version of it can still be seen in the museum at Eton College.

Robinson, played by Oscar Hart just lately has been pushing his luck and breaking one rule after another. As a senior he is expected to set a good example to the juniors, this he seriously fails to do. The Headmaster has had enough and now an example really will be made but out of the boy himself.

Caught in the dormitory after lights out playing music far too loud his housemaster Mr Sharpe is told to give him a good hand spanking. Being somewhat of an expert in this field he turns young Robinson’s bare backside a bright burning red. This however is only the start. Robinson failed to heed the many warnings he was given and will now face an official birching.

Face down, kneeling on the wooden step, his bare bottom splayed and raised high the boy can only wait in trepidation as the birch twigs are swished through the air in readiness.

Another pupil Edmonds, played by Ariel Varga has also been ordered to be birched. He too has fallen foul of the rule book and must now take his place on the birching block. He watches as the formidable instrument is drawn from its container and placed in position on his defenceless bare bottom. Edmonds can feel that the wooden block has positioned him so his buttocks are dangerously exposed. The birch descends, its biting spray of well soaked twigs hits home covering a wide area. Edmonds undoubtedly feels the sting but this is just the first stroke! It will build and build now to a scorching conclusion. Later for further punishment he too will go over the knee, his poor whipped bare bottom now to be soundly spanked!

THE BIRCHING BLOCK 2
In public schools the birch once featured as a major instrument of correction. We continue our series with another look at its administration. One memorable feature was the type of support used to carry out the punishments. There were several but in this story we again feature the birching block, constructed to match the same size as the original.

One of the senior boys, Daniels (Karl Frazer) has been taking too many liberties. His continual skylarking had exasperated the Headmaster and he is sent to his House Master Mr Sharpe to be severely spanked as a junior might be. Its just before lights out as Daniels is taken across the knee. He'll be going to bed with a very sore and well reddened bare bottom, certainly sleeping face down this night.

Another senior boy, Rhodes (Toby Haines) has also got himself in to a lot of trouble. His acts of misbehaviour have earned him a visit to the birching room. His House Master will lay on the punishment and he is ordered to strip before kneeling on the birching block. The birch is drawn from the bucket and carefully measured again the lads bare bottom before the first stinging stroke is brought down. As the birching proceeds and the burning twigs swish down the boy can feel that each stroke now seem to sting more than the last! However, perhaps the fiery spanking on his already well birched bare bottom, given by his infuriated House Master, will have more than a lasting effect.

Daniels has now pushed his luck too far! A choice between his parents being informed about his insolent behaviour or a birching sees the lad also reporting to kneel on the block.

After having striped for the punishment the lad can only watch as Mr Sharpe draws the freshly soaked birch from the bucket. He feels the cold tips of the rod gently touch his bare backside then a swish and a searing sting! That hurt but no so bad he thinks! However as the rod continues to descend Daniel too realises that this cruel instrument can build to a scorching climax, his poor bottom is now on fire!

THE BIRCHING BLOCK 3
Again the heavy wooden block has been placed in position for two more miscreants to keel in contrition and receive punishment. In time honoured fashion a traditional ceremony of bare bottom birching will take place. The school bursar has been asked to supply the instrument, freshly made and soaked in brine beforehand for extra suppleness.

Two senior lads Hilton (Leonardo King) and Edwards (Phil Stone) are to receive their comeuppance. Hilton for grossly infringing the school rules receives a stinging bare bottom spanking in the dormitory and is ordered to be given the birch the very next day by his Housemaster, Mr Sharpe. Edwards too has been neglectful of his duties and as a prefect set a very bad example to the juniors in his house. He is ordered to be birched by the Headmaster and to make sure he responds properly again to duty earns a hard bare bottom spanking as a junior might expect, rapid fire included!

All round the walls of the old college the swish and crack of the birch can be heard. The effect of its scorching sting burns more fiercely at each stroke. The effect on the juniors sitting silently listening in the common room is behave or you too might soon kneel on the dreaded birching block!

THE BIRCHING BLOCK 4
Its back to the days of powerful discipline and harsh corporal punishment! All generously administered to the most unruly students in the finest educational institutions of the land. Fresh birches have been made up and the lads of gentlemen are about to learn some much needed manners.

First in line is Guy Ashton (Adam Black) He has seen fit to bring drugs in to the college but having admitted his guilt is prepared to take a birching as punishment. The Headmaster arranges that his Housemaster Mr Sharpe (Marco) will administer the flogging. In time honoured fashion the boy will have to kneel on the birching block, raising his bare bottom high to meet the stinging rods as they descend mercilessly on to his naked backside. These previously soaked birch rods are scorchers but the Housemaster for this offence won't be content with just a birthing. This young pup needs further punishment and Ashton is order to report back promptly before bedtime.

Bunking off college and going out of bounds tends to be the main occupation of senior lads. When they push their luck too far the birching block is waiting for them to kneel to its authority. One boy, Miles Barclay (Pedro Donatello) has been having just too many illegal excursions of late. As he doesn't want anyone informed of his antics he soon finds himself stripping to receive the birch.

As usual Mr Sharpe is asked to lay on the flogging. Miles positions himself reluctantly on the block. Its very design pushed his now naked buttocks upwards and splayed apart. The descending birch burns more and more at each stroke, The usually cocky Miles is struggling, his backside is on fire. Today though he's going to be very unlucky as his Housemaster intends to teach him a real lesson. The birch flogging will be followed by a scorching spanking cruelly laid on over the already red raw birch marks!

Its evening time and Guy Ashton is knocking on his Housemaster's door. As we know he'd been birched earlier that day but his offence had particularly riled his Housemaster. Now he intends to send the boy back to bed with a very sore bottom. Over the knee, legs spread apart, Guy can only wince and howl as his very rounded backside is slapped hard. His burning buttocks turn red quickly but there is no release this time, his Housemaster intends to teach the boy a good lesson!
