When new housemaster Mr Harold Quinton Jones arrived to take up his post at historic Osbourne Lodge College he decided to keep a diary. 'Grey Shorts' charts the life and times of Osbourne's student body and how stern disciplinary measures are taken by the masters to preserve the well maintained traditions that go to make up boarding school life.

The atmosphere is tense as one by one the lads fall foul of the rules and end up facing punishment in the traditional way. From headmaster Mr Prentice Hacket to head boy Howard Stadden the traditional discipline laid on leaves the lads in no uncertain terms that they have been dealt with!
